Wall of Fame — Class of 2022

Honoring the Best of the Spartans

Dennis Prosick

North Schuylkill Wall of Fame — Inducted June 2022

Dennis Prosick is a recent retiree of the Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) and a graduate of North Schuylkill High School's Class of 1985. During his time at North Schuylkill, he completed two years of the carpentry program at the Schuylkill County Vo-tech (STC) and found his early start as a fireman as a volunteer at Altamont Fire Company in West Mahanoy Township.

Dennis was employed by the Department of Defense as a firefighter at Ft. Indiantown Gap before becoming a firefighter for the City of New York in 1995. He was assigned to Engine Company 35 in East Harlem where he served 26 years and was awarded seven special recognitions for bravery. His 26 years allowed him to be of service to the city and the country during some of its greatest tragedies. Dennis responded to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 — a tragic day that took the lives of many, including two Battalion Chiefs from his firehouse. He remained at the Trade Center for months performing rescue and recovery operations.

In November 2001, he was part of rescue efforts during the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in Queens, NY — the third worst plane crash in U.S. history. In 2005, Dennis responded to and remained in New Orleans for two weeks after Hurricane Katrina as part of the federal government's recovery operations. Dennis also served in 2020 and 2021 as a frontline responder during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to emergency responses, Dennis was honored to serve on many safety details in New York City. He provided his services on several emergency response teams at the United Nations, offering security for several Presidents of the United States as well as other international dignitaries, including Pope Francis on his visit to New York City in 2015.

Dennis remains a resident of Butler Township with his wife of 25 years, Lori, son Ryan (NS Class of 2016), and daughter Alexa (NS Class of 2020). He remains active as a volunteer firefighter with the Washington Fire Company and Altamont Fire Company.
