Dr. Kelly Jordan-Sciutto

Kelly Jordan-Sciutto, PhD, is a proud graduate of the North Schuylkill Class of 1987. Currently residing in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, she shares her life with her family, including her husband, Mark Sciutto, PhD, and their two sons, Jay and Alec Sciutto. Her strong foundations at North Schuylkill set the stage for a remarkable journey of academic excellence, leading to her current status as a distinguished alumna and an inspiring figure for future generations.
Dr. Jordan-Sciutto built her extensive academic foundation at Villanova University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science accompanied by minors in both Biology and Business. She went on to earn her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Thomas Jefferson University. Today, she serves at the University of Pennsylvania as a Professor of Pathology and the Vice Provost for Graduate Education. Her exceptional leadership capabilities have been further honed through elite institutional training, including participation in the Provost's Leadership Academy, Penn's Fellows Program, and the Management Development Program at the Harvard Institute for Higher Education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Jordan-Sciutto has made profound contributions to both university culture and biomedical science. At the Perelman School of Medicine, she established a transformative four-phased mentoring program and trainee support office for the Biomedical Graduate Studies Program, vastly improving the culture and experience for PhD students. As a researcher, she has advanced our understanding of the impacts of HIV and its treatments on brain pathogenesis, specifically investigating cellular stress responses in neurons and oligodendrocytes. Her dedication to education and science has earned her prestigious accolades, including the 2023 Outstanding Service and Support Award from the Society on NeuroImmune Pharmacology and the 2024 Lifetime Service Award.
