North Schuylkill School District Technology
The North Schuylkill School District is committed to enhancing our students’ 21st Century learning skills. In order to facilitate this we have undertaken several major projects within the last year. The Junior Senior High School was completely rewired and networked to ensure that adequate bandwidth is supplied to all classrooms. The Junior Senior High School also received a Classrooms For the Future grant, allowing the district to install Promethean whiteboards and projectors in 33 classrooms. This grant also enabled North Schuylkill to purchase laptops for 33 of our teachers and 4 wireless, student laptop carts containing 30 laptops apiece.
North Schuylkill's elementary schools are equipped with Smartboards in every classroom, as well as a PC for the teachers. In addition, North Schuylkill Elementary's classrooms are equipped with 5 thin client computers for student use. The state of the art building is connected to the JSHS with 4 gigabits of fiber allowing data to freely flow between the buildings. North Schuylkill Ringtown connects to the district WAN through a secure, wireless VPN. Each of the district's three buildings have IP teleconference units for virtual field trips and video conferencing.
Being a forward thinking district we are always on the lookout for new technology that we can implement to better prepare our students for the transition to higher education or the workforce.
